This is a good reason why the World Wide Web is full of
sites full of
this sort of info.
Where should I park and how much does it cost?
You have several convenient options for parking when using the Egan
Center. The Egan Center is located on Fifth Avenue between E and F
Streets. Below is a list of some of the nearest parking spaces.
On-Street Parking:
There are approximately 800 metered parking spaces within a five
block radius of the facility. Monday though Friday 9:00am - 6:00pm is
$0.75 per hour, two hour limit. After 6:00pm and on Saturday and Sunday,
free parking on the street is allowed for the entire day.
Parking Garages:
- J.C. Penney Garage (Sixth Avenue and E
Street). Fifty cents per hour, $8.00 all day. Free on Sunday. Garage
hours: Monday - Friday, 7am to 9pm; Saturday, 7am to 6pm; Sunday, 10am
to 6pm.
- Sixth Avenue Parking Garage - Enter on H
Street. $0.75 per hour. Open 24 hours.
- Fifth Avenue Parking Garage - Fifth Avenue and B Street. $0.75 per

Diamond Parking Lots:
At these lots, you put your parking fee in the box at the pay station
when you park. Have some dollar bills or a few dollars in change
available.
What about food?
Inside
the Egan Center, SMG Catering is the only vendor allowed to sell any
kind of food, and their prices are generally considered high. Some of
the dealers have possibly made arrangements to be able to carry some con
favorites such as Ramune and various types of Pocky. However, there are
plenty of nearby locations within easy walking distance, and a map will
be provided with your convention materials. Just remember, you aren't
supposed to bring outside food into the Egan Center.
What dealers will be at
Aurora-Con 2008?
Once the
dealers are confirmed, we will post a list of dealers on the website.
What
will they have for sale?
Just
about anything and everything remotely connected to anime or Asian
culture. Many dealers have websites; check out their wares online so you
know what to expect.
General
Questions
What
time do I come to Aurora-Con?
Those
who pre-registered will be allowed to start entering Aurora-Con at
11:00AM on the 20th. Those who are registering at the door will be
allowed to start entering at 12:00PM or noon.
How
come Aurora-Con is now in September on a Saturday?
Honestly,
we're testing the waters, summer time was great for Aurora-Con 2006, but
we want to give some Japanese programs in town a chance to be a part of
the festivities and many go home to Japan in the summer time. So,
for Aurora-Con 2008 it will be on a Saturday in the Fall to see if that works out better for everyone.
What
can I expect from Aurora-Con?
If
Aurora-Con is your first convention, expect to be just a bit
overwhelmed. There's will be lots to see and do, you may not know where
to start. So try to sample a bit of everything. Just go with the flow,
have fun, make friends, and share in the celebration.
What
time does a certain event start?
Please
check our Programming Schedule on our web page or in the program/con
book for answers to all these questions.
Do
I have to dress up in a costume?
Not
if you don't want to. As stated previously, you should dress for
comfort, but quite a lot of people do like to dress up or cosplay, and
if you're feeling creative, feel free to show off your skills. Just
remember that you MUST have some sort of foot coverings, no bare feet
please.
How
much money should I bring?
How
much do you plan on spending? And secondly, make sure you have enough
money to get home if your coming in from out of town!
What
is your policy concerning minors?
Please
visit the section of our website regarding Minor Polices for a
detailed explanation. Please take a minute to read over this
information.
Guests
When
will you announce who the Aurora-Con guests are?
Aurora-Con
will not comment on any guest with which we have not yet signed a
contract or otherwise have a firm commitment. We will announce guests as
soon as negotiations are finalized. Until we announce it officially,
it's just a rumor. Note that guests are ALWAYS announced first on the
official Aurora-Con sources: the website and forums.
What's
the difference between a guest and a panelist?
Panelists
are there to participate in panels. Guests are there for a variety of
reasons, and generally offer something unique beyond participating in
panels; in addition, they often have a committed fan base, which means
people will come just to see them.
Registration
I
pre-registered, what do I need to do to pick up my badge?
You
should have received a message from us confirming your successful
registration for Aurora-Con. As it notes, you should bring that, as well
as a photo ID to help us match you with your registration. Having these
things out and ready when you reach the front of the line will help
speed the pickup process.
Um
wait, I don't have a photo I.D. what should I do?
Your
best bet is to obtain one. Any official photo I.D. is a valuable
resource, but be it a driver's license, school I.D., military I.D., or
even a credit card with your name and a photo of you on it.
That being said, remember the purpose of the I.D. is to help us verify
your identity. (We don't want to accidentally give your membership to
the wrong person.) Bring whatever you've got that can help you do that.
Can
I pick up my friends' badge?
Nope.
Sorry, you can't pick up badges for anyone but yourself. The only
exception is if you're picking up a free badge for a child you're
responsible for.
It's
after the pre-registration cut-ff date and I want to register, what do I
do?
We have to cut off
pre-registration to give our staff time to prepare for the convention,
that includes taking care of requests, corrections, and the other fixes.
