General
Questions
I'm
a minor and I have the parental consent form filled out and everything,
but do I still need to have an adult with me when I go to the con?
Yes.
All attendees 12 and under must have a parent or guardian who is
attending Aurora-Con on the premises at all times. Sorry, NO
EXCEPTIONS will be made.
Are
there any discounts?
We
currently have discount programs for children. If a child is 7-12 years
old, they are half price. If a child is 6 or under, they get in free
with a paid adult membership. Also remember that all children 12 and
under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
Also, there is our group rate incentive, if you have a group of eight or
more you can enter the con at a lower rate.
I
have already registered, but I can't attend Aurora-Con 2008. Is it
possible to get a refund?
Though
we are not able to offer refunds under normal circumstances at this
time, we do have an option available for people in this unfortunate
predicament. Your pre-registration can be transferred to next year's
convention (Aurora-Con 2009). You must notify us by June 1, 2008 at registration@auroracon.org
to take
advantage of this option.
Pre-Registration
Questions
Is the pre-registration fee for both days?
Yes. The fee will get you a Full Membership, which entitles you to a
two-day pass into the convention. Pre-Registration is not available for
single-day memberships.
What
sort of payment do you accept for pre-registration?
Check,
money order or Pay Pal. We do not accept Canadian checks at this time.
If you do not have checks, money orders are available at post offices
and many grocery stores. For security reasons, we recommend that our
pre-registrants do not send cash.
Do
you have online pre-registration?
Yes,
using PayPal. It is accessible through our website.
Can
I pay for multiple pre-registrations with one check or money order?
Yes.
Please indicate how many pre-registrations are being paid for on your
check or money order, and fill out separate forms for each
person.
I
have a child who is 6 or under and does not need to pay. What is the
procedure for registering them?
Make
sure that a registration form is filled out for the child just as
if they were a paying pre-registrant. Please indicate on the form that
the child is 6 and under. Don't forget that children 6 and under are
free ONLY with a paid adult membership. Also remember that all children
12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
How
long will it take to process my registration? Will I get a notification?
Our
current turnaround time is usually 3-4 weeks. During this time we follow
this procedure:
1) process your pre-registration
2) endorse your payment
3) enter your information into the database
4)
update the pre-registration
list webpage
5) send out confirmation emails
In the email, you should receive the following item:
1) your receipt(s) (bringing this will make on-site registration faster
and easier, though it is not necessary)
If
you are ever concerned about your status or thing that your
pre-registration is taking an unusually long time (more than 3-4 weeks),
please don't hesitate to email registration@auroracon.org to
check on your registration.
How does the
pre-registration process work at Con (i.e., What do I do when I get
there)?
Simply bring your receipt(s) and identification to the
pre-registration desk, and we will cross you off our list and hand you your badges and con packets. Photo
ID is preferred, but not necessary. Children 12 and under will be
verified at this time. If there are any special notes for your
pre-registration, we will take care of those at this time as well.
If you received one receipt for more than one pre-registration, all
attendees who are paid under that receipt must be present at the
pre-registration station to claim their badges and con packets. If you
know ahead of time that special circumstances will prevent this, please
email the Registration Team at registration@auroracon.org with
the details.
When do the doors open
for pre-registered members to get in?
11:00AM
on September 27 & 28th. No sooner. We do suggest getting there as soon as
close to 11AM as possible do get the full benefit of your registration
fee.
Am
I registered yet?
How often do you update the pre-registration list?
Updates to the pre-registration
List vary throughout the year. If you have received your
confirmation email you have been registered even if you do not see your
name on the list.
At-the-door
Registration
What
form of payment do you accept at registration at the door?
At-the-door,
we will accept checks, money orders and cash. At this time we do not
accept credit cards on site.
Do
you have one-day rates?
Yes.
The prices of our one-day rates are as follows:
Saturday: $25
Sunday: $10
So
wait...does this mean I have to pay a total of $35 for the convention
at-the-door?
Well, its best
to pre-register and pay less to get the most out of the con weekend.
Different events will be happening on both days. You're going to want to
attend both days, so its best to pre-register and reap the rewards of
attending all weekend.
What
will be happening on Saturday compared to Sunday?
Saturday
will have contests, gaming, and panels, and the all the awesome things
that have been happening at Aurora-Con, however, in 2008 on Sunday we will
have a dance and autograph sessions with the guests of honor plus extra
contests!
When is Registration open?
Registration hours will be as follows:
|
|
| Saturday: |
8am - 9pm |
| Sunday: |
8am - 3pm |
|
|
The con does not open
until 11AM, but you can come and buy your badges at 8am.
I
lost my badge! Can I get another?
There
is a procedure to replace lost badges. There is a lost badge fee of $5
(check or cash) and we will need photo identification to identify you both
in the database and physically. During registration hours, this will be
done at the registration desk. While attending the con, make sure you wear
it where it can be clearly seen by others and easily monitored by
yourself.
When
will you be selling pre-registration badges for Aurora-Con 2009?
Pre-registration
for Aurora-Con 2009 will be available during the 2008 con.
